Nordo Pipe Manufacturing Company, Sobh Saba

Sobhe Saba Rolling & Pipe Mills Company operates on a 500-hectare site, encompassing six production lines across four specialized plants:

  • Spiral Pipe Manufacturing Plant
  • Straight Seam Pipe Manufacturing (Roll Bending)
  • Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) Pipe Plant
  • Pipe Coating Plant

The company was established in 2001 and, in 2023, by decision of Parsian Bank as the main shareholder, the management was transferred to Sobhe Safa Rolling & Pipe Mills Company.

Facilities and Infrastructure

The vast 500-hectare complex includes:

  • 220 hectares dedicated to production facilities, comprising 4 production halls totaling 4,130 meters in length, with widths ranging from 60 to 90 meters.
  • 5 hectares of covered warehouses adjacent to production halls for raw materials.
  • Workshops, administrative buildings, and 100 hectares of open storage yards for finished products.
  • 200 hectares for railway infrastructure, raw material storage, and utility installations.

Key Infrastructure:

  • High-voltage substation (20/63 kV) with 60 MW capacity
  • Industrial water treatment plant with a capacity of 72 m³/hour
  • Gas pressure reduction station with 20,000 m³/hour capacity
  • Railway network & freight station covering 94 hectares, connected to the national railway system
  • Telecommunication network with 100 external lines, 4,000 internal lines, LAN/WAN fiber optic network covering the entire complex
  • Drainage and wastewater treatment systems for surface and industrial water for all plants

Production Lines and Milestones

2002 – Spiral Pipe Production Begins

The first spiral pipe production line, with a capacity of 75,000 tons/year, was commissioned to produce water transmission pipes in diameters from 500 to 3,000 mm in compliance with AWWA C200. In 2006, a second spiral line with a capacity of 200,000 tons/year was added to manufacture gas pipes from 20″ to 56″ according to API 5L standards. These lines have played a major role in supplying pipes for national water transmission projects from dams to consumption areas.

2003 – Roll Bending Pipe Production

The second pipe manufacturing line began producing straight seam welded pipes using advanced 3RBH technology.

  • Products: 20″–64″, wall thickness 6.4–38.1 mm, API-X80 grade
  • Capacity: 675,000 tons/year
Over the past decade, this line has produced more than 1,000 km of oil and gas transmission pipelines for the petrochemical sector.

2004 – Pipe Coating Plant

The first coating line was launched with 3-layer polyethylene hot application technology, capacity 4 million m²/year. All pipes for oil, gas, and water projects are coated to protect against corrosion. Later, coating capabilities expanded to include polyurethane, polypropylene, bitumen-based coatings, and internal liquid epoxy to meet project requirements nationwide.

2006 – ERW Pipe Production

A high-capacity ERW line (600,000 tons/year) was launched to produce pipes from 8″ to 24″ with wall thickness 4–20 mm using advanced equipment from SMS Meer, Germany. These pipes meet international standards for the transmission of sour and sweet oil and gas products.

The ERW line also produces structural HSS profiles from 180×180 mm to 500×500 mm and up to 400×600 mm, with strength up to 570 MPa. The use of these lightweight, high-strength profiles in high-rise residential and commercial buildings has reduced structural weight by more than 30%, significantly improving seismic safety in earthquake-prone regions.
